Healthy Weight Loss Programs

A healthy weight loss program is a complete program which makes sure that you burn more calories than you ingest.  It should comprise a selection of nutrients, a mixture of protein (lean meat, pulses) some complex carbohydrates (wholegrain bread, pasta and rice), a small amount of fat such as olive oil or sunflower oil and lots of fruit and vegetables.

Besides meals which are good for your vitality and digestion, a healthy weight loss program will give details of workouts which mix fat loss and strengthening with cardio exercises which are beneficial for the heart, lungs and arteries.

An additional part of a healthy weight loss program is drinking heaps of water; it doesn’t really make any difference which type.  If your household water is ok for drinking, have that or you can use either fizzy or normal bottled water.

Here are some fascinating truths about water and its relationship to our health and well-being in:

  • 3/4 of Americans are seriously dehydrated.
  • Over 1/3 of Americans misidentify thirst for hunger pangs because their thirst sensors don’t work properly
  • If you are even slightly dehydrated your body’s metabolic process slows up  by as much as 3%
  • If you drink a glass of water, it will suppress nocturnal hunger twinges
  • Dehydration causes tiredness in day time
  • New research has demonstrated that drinking 8 – 10 glasses of water daily may alleviate joint and back pain in as many as 80% of sufferers
  • As little as a 2% fall in body water content can induce poor short term memory, trouble doing simple maths and problems focusing
  • Drinking 5 glasses of water daily can reduce the danger of contracting colon cancer by 45%, breast cancer by 79% and bladder cancer by 50%.

Even if you’re not sticking to a weight loss program, I would say that the above are very persuasive arguments for drinking lots of water, even if you aren’t thirsty.  By the time that you really are thirsty, you are already dehydrated!
